The business process outsourcing (BPO) industry is dynamic and on the rise. Outsourcing services like inbound and outbound customer service, outbound telemarketing, web services, accounting and HR administration are being outsourced to countries like Philippines and India.

In the Philippines, professionals venture into careers in the inbound and Philippines call center especially when working as a customer service representative (CSR).  But working in a call center also allows you to enhance your communication and rapport-building skills. When you’re in a call center, you get to practice your social skills. Socializing is never boring.

There are a number of skills that can be learned and developed when working as customer service representative in the call center industry.

An inbound customer service agent practically meets at least 20 strangers in a day. These ‘strangers’ are the customers calling in for customer service, product or service support, or technical help like connecting to the internet or troubleshooting their minor computer problems. There are numerous opportunities to build-rapport with customers. Sometimes, unknown to call center agents, the impressions or interactions with these customers can be life-changing.

Some people wonder, “How could socializing with strangers from another country be boring?” It only becomes boring when the call center agent is not interested in their customers.  Work becomes a bore when your heart is not into it.
