Philippine BPO Industry Going More Steps Further

The BPO industry is one of the top sources of revenue and employment in the Philippines. Currently, there are now over 600,000 employees working in the BPO industry, and the numbers are projected to go even higher these coming months. This shows that outsourcing businesses in the country, which offers great supply of English-speaking, college degree holder workforce, has worked perfectly for business owners worldwide.

However, Rembert de Villa, BPO industry executive, said that the “Philippine government will soon need to implement concrete actions that would help sustain the growth of the industry for another 10 years“.

Qualified and Talented Workforce

The country has the advantage especially when business owners worldwide find out the value chain of services, added Rembert, who will be one of the speakers for the coming International Outsourcing Summit which will be held in Sofitel Philippine Plaza, Manila, Philippines. He said that we have deeper pool of truly qualified and talented workforce in healthcare, finance, and legal services.

Also another crucial component is that the Filipinos have a natural affinity to the American culture. Or to put more succinctly, the Filipino culture is better aligned to that of the United States of America.

With the kind of technology we have right now, multinational companies will be able to outsource their business offshore. This appeals a lot to many business owners allowing them to cut down significant figures on their operational costs.

Aiming for Greater Things

Rembert went more steps further by saying that the Philippines isn’t just about call center services, but even more capable to greater things, considering the skills and talents of the Filipinos. Call center services in the Philippines is just a tip of an iceberg, Rembert  added.

The BPO industry will soon attract highly professional individuals with master’s degrees, law degrees, or PhD’s, amongst other professionals, and utilizing their education, skills and experience working for clients abroad, and earning higher salaries.

Finally, De Villa ended the interview saying that the Philippines shouldn’t just focus on providing call center services. We should also capitalize on our large population of English-speaking, highly educated workforce to do core business services. The aim isn’t just to provide labor, but also development solutions. That’s where the real value lies.
